Green Tara Mantra

Green Tārā is a female Buddha and bodhisattva, sometimes known as the "mother of liberation" or "mother of all Buddhas" in Mahayana Buddhism. Within Tibetan Buddhism, Tārā is regarded as a bodhisattva of compassion and action.

The Green Tārā mantra – "Om Tare Tuttare Ture Soha" represents the speech, body, and mind qualities of all the Buddhas. Daily repetition of the mantra is believed to help one cultivate  karuṇā (compassion), mettā (loving-kindness), and shunyata (emptiness), so as to overcome fear and anxiety, eliminate suffering and bring happiness.

Here Rev Helen James repeats the Green Tara mantra 108 times. Weaving in stunning views from Bredon Hill in Worcestershire. The video aims to inspire and fill you with awe at the beauty of Mother Earth. It acts as a guide for you to recite the mantra with Helen.

Reciting The Green Tara Mantra really helped Helen when she was suffering from post traumatic stress disorder. Helen studied Kadampa Buddhism for five years, meditation, mindfulness, a loving sangha and reciting this mantra, really helped liberate Helen from suffering. She experienced deep compassion and love and now years later, Helen supports others in her capacity as an ordained Interfaith Minister.

Rev Helen James is exploring chanting and filmed this to encourage people to have a go. She is by no means an expert and encourages people to find a teacher and join a class. Helen wants to honour all the elements of earth, air, fire, water in this video and the filming and editing is lovingly guided by Spirit. Helen is filled with so much gratitude.

Thank you for watching - if you have enjoyed this video please subscribe to the Rev Helen James channel, there are lots of interviews exploring spirituality and uplifting songs too - so please like and share with your community. Namaste.

Helen would like to thank Tharpa Publications and Kadampa Buddhism (Mother Centre is in Ulverston in the Lake District) for sharing the image of Green Tara.
