The Siri Gaitri Mantra (Ra Ma Da Sa)

Certain mantras are to be cherished like a beautiful gem. The Siri Gaitri Mantra (Ra Ma Da Sa) is just such a jewel. It is unique, and it captures the radiant healing energy of the Cosmos as a gem captures the light of the sun.

This healing meditation is used to pray for healing energy for our friends, family, and ourselves.

For healing at a distance, this is the mantra. It cuts across time and space so you can send healing energy to someone thousands of miles away as easily as you can send it to someone across the room.
— Shakti Parwha Kaur

This mantra consists of 7 Sanskrit letters & within the mantra 8 sound healing frequencies:

Ra Ma Da Sa Sa Say So Hung

This mantra taps into the energies of the sun, moon, earth, and the Infinite Spirit to bring deep healing.

Posture: Sit in Easy Pose (sitting on the floor, with legs crossed) or in a chair with feet planted firmly on the ground, with the spine straight. The mudra (hand position) is most important. The elbows are bent down by the sides, and are tucked comfortably but firmly against the ribs. The forearms are almost perpendicular to the floor, with the hands extended out at a 45 degree angle from the center of the body. The palms are flat but not rigid, facing up, the wrists pulled back, fingers together. Consciously keep the palms flat during the meditation. It is important to pull the navel point powerfully on Hung. Chant one complete cycle of the entire mantra with each breath. Then deeply inhale and repeat. Remember to move the mouth precisely with each sound. Try to feel the resonance in the mouth and in the sinus area.

Translation:

Ra is the energy of the Sun: strong, bright and hot. It energizes and purifies.

Ma is the energy of the moon: receptive, cool, and nurturing.

Da is the energy of Earth: secure and personal. It is the ground of action.

Sa is the impersonal Infinity. The cosmos in all of its dimensions, openness, expansiveness and totality is Sa.

Sa is the impersonal Infinity.

Say is the totality of experience and is personal. It is the feeling of a sacred "Thou." It is the embodiment of Sa.

So is the personal sense of merger and identity.

Hung is the Infinite, vibrating and real. The two qualities together (So and Hung) mean: "I am Thou."

Mental Focus: with eyes closed, palms facing up, focus your mind on the qualities that are evoked by the combination of sounds. You can choose to mentally visualize the person or persons that you are wanting to heal, as you send this energy to them for their well-being.

This mantra is a Sushmuna Mantra. It has eight sounds that stimulate the kundalini to flow in the central channel of the spine and the chakras, and accompanied by metabolic adjustment to the new level of energy in the body. It also balances the five zones of the left and right hemispheres of the brain to activate the Neutral Mind.

The first part of the mantra is ascending and expands into the Infinite. The second part of the mantra pivots those qualities of the highest and most subtle ether, and brings them back down.

The intention of Rev Helen James is to integrate these sounds with the beauty of nature on this video to inspire and help someone chant for at least ten minutes to promote wellbeing for the highest good.

Helen is learning about Sanskrit chanting and is not a trained Kundalini yoga teacher. This is a taster video to introduce how chanting can improve our well-being and send healing. Hopefully it will encourage people to have a go and open their minds and hearts to different things. It’s not a perfect example by any means. Helen encourages people to go to a trained kundalini yoga teacher to explore sacred chanting further. But she hopes you have benefitted from the sacred energy emitted by her chanting during this video.

When exploring different faith paths during her OneSpirit Interfaith training, she came across Snatam Kaur’s version of RA MA DA SA and fell in love with it, basking in the Divine Universal energy. For Helen, this mantra brings her closer to the Infinite Creator and Divine Mother, it honours Mother Earth and this video aims to celebrate the awe and wonder of Gaia.

It was filmed on the Isle Lewis, Harris and Uist. The Callanish standing stones are magical and feature. Avebury stone circle, St Nectern’s Glen in Cornwall, the Gower Peninsular, Yorkshire Dales, Lake District, Scottish mountains including Ben Nevis and other sacred sites appear in the video.

Helen wants to honour all the elements of earth, air, fire, water and the filming and editing of this video is lovingly guided by Spirit. Helen is filled with so much gratitude.

Thank you for watching - if you have enjoyed this video please subscribe to the Rev Helen James channel, there are lots of interviews exploring spirituality and uplifting songs too - so please like and share with your community. Namaste.
